Edgard Rivera-Valentin

Dr. Edgard Rivera-Valentín is a staff planetary scientist at the Arecibo Observatory in the Planetary Radar Group. He holds bachelors degrees in physics and mathematics and a Ph.D. in space and planetary science. Ed’s research focuses on surface and interior processes on planetary bodies, such as searching for liquid water on Mars and studying impact craters on the icy moons of Jupiter and Saturn. As a native of Arecibo, Puerto Rico and the first Arecibeño scientist at the observatory, Ed leverages his position to promote STEM, especially space related research, in Puerto Rico.
